Club AGM 2023 Report

 

Parish Centre Donegal Town , Sat 2nd Dec @ 7:30pm

The club AGM took place on the 2nd December 2023 in the St Patrick’s Parish Centre in Donegal Town. A comprehensive report on all club activities was presented by club secretary Emer Leape. The continued success of our underage teams, ongoing growth of club membership (955 membership across the whole club in 2023 with 33 teams/groups currently), and continued fundraising for the clubhouse featuring. Club Treasurer Katrina Shovlin and Chairperson Pauric Harvey then gave their reports. In the Chairpersons address Pauric thanked all the club volunteers for their hard work over the year; with highlights like the club dinner dance in Harvey’s Point, providing GAA games for over 600 players at underage level, reaching various finals at boys and girls football since last years AGM including national U15 Feile and Ulster U17 Finals, and winning Gaelic Life Ulster Club of the Year featuring. Challenges such a need for more volunteers across all areas in the club (especially in lotto sales, game day help with gates and tea hut sales, etc.) was highlighted; anyone able to help out in anyway in the club should contact any of the officers or team managers in the club.
The election of officers then took place, with the following positions elected;

A discussion on three motions around rules took place. The 1st motion was regarding extra time leading to penalties rule with it suggested after 10 minutes of extra time, it goes to next score wins. The 2nd and 3rd Motions covered an amendment of the foot block rule and the term time on county boards also took place (maximum of 5 years with a three year break suggested before anyone can serve again). All three motions were proposed by Seamus McAnaw and all passed the meeting will go forward to the County Board.
