Four Masters produced an excellent second-half display to secure a 2-13 to 2-9 victory over Naomh Conaill in Davy Brennan Memorial Park on Sunday.
With both sides missing some key players, this fixture provided an opportunity for others to step up and Four Masters did exactly that, delivering a composed and clinical performance, particularly after the break.
Tight First Half Battle
Playing against a strong breeze in the opening half, Masters showed great discipline to stay firmly in contention.
An impressive Oisín Doherty led the scoring charge early on, contributing three points, while Emmett Doogan and others added crucial scores to keep the visitors within touching distance.
At the interval, Four Masters trailed narrowly but were well positioned to take advantage of the conditions in the second half.
Doherty Inspires Second Half Surge
Four Masters came out with real intent after the restart, and it was Doherty who set the tone, landing a superb two-pointer to level the game before continuing to influence proceedings throughout.
The momentum began to swing as Patrick McGonagle edged Masters in front, with Doherty continuing to impress with his accuracy and work rate.
Despite a Naomh Conaill goal that briefly put the hosts back ahead, Masters responded in style. Doherty once again proved pivotal, first levelling the game before rifling to the net to push his side into a commanding position.
Goals Seal the Win
With confidence growing, Four Masters took control in the closing stages. A well-taken goal from Cian Gavigan extended the lead and gave the visitors a comfortable cushion heading into the final minutes.
Further points from across the team ensured Masters maintained their advantage, with a late goal from Naomh Conaill doing little to change the outcome.
Standout Performances
It was a strong all-round team performance, but Oisín Doherty was the standout, finishing with an impressive tally and playing a key role in turning the game in Masters’ favour.
There were also valuable contributions from across the pitch, highlighting the strength and depth within the squad.
Positive Momentum
This result marks an important away win for Four Masters and builds positive momentum as the league campaign continues. With players stepping up and delivering when called upon, there are plenty of encouraging signs for the weeks ahead. 🔵⚪️
